Stark eyed the others nervously. "As we spoke about earlier, Admiral, there
are problems here, but I am not sure that I am the person who can provide
you with that information."
David could've walked out of the room he was so angry but he held it
together, "Please elaborate why not Colonel."
Stark could see David seething upon hearing his answer. "I wish I could say
that it was because I do not know the details or that I was a party to the
problem, but it is because it would me my job and perhaps my life." There
was an eerie silence that filled the cabin after the officer's response.
"So between the last time I spoke to you--when you tried to help me, and
now, has Admiral Van Der Loo ordered you not to speak to us or directly
threatened you if you did so?"
Jared too felt a great deal of concern about the situation. This was not
the way Starfleet officers were supposed to behave.
Stark glanced around the cabin at those providing him with transport. He had
no doubt that they were a bit incredulous at whathe was saying. "It was not
so much a direct threat, but one that has become obvious with the way thngs
are going out here."
Joanna had been able to read Stark's emotional state easily. It was clear
that he was agitated about the situation. He truly wanted to help, but he
did fear for his career and even his life as he said. Joanna eyed her male
partners and nodded. He was trustworthy. "Colonel, you must realize that
the only way the situation is going to improve out here is we are able to
expose the whole thing. That would be made a lot easier if you were to
share with us what you know. You can trust us. We will be delicate."
