But the problem is, it's getting graylisted before it's ever getting rejected by Qmail. If there is a bug in how the new version is handling graylisting, which is sounds like there is, then what qmail does with it is irrelevant, because it's not getting handed to qmail.
In our case, we're actually getting spam with blank from's. Theses aren't bounce backs. Michael J.
