On Windows, you should see an little Apache services icon in your system tray (depending on the version of Windows and your options). Otherwise you could start the Windows task manager (taskmgr.exe or CTRL-ALT-DELETE) and look any proceseses named "httpd". If you do this make sure you click "show all user processes" at the bottom of the Window.
