I've repeatedly overcome the SiteMinder issues where a
Spectra Installation fails on a fresh CF 5.0 install.
I Updated the SiteMinder Data Source to SQL FIRST, here
are the steps I took to get there...
1) Install and test CF 5.0 (win2ksp1/iis5)
2) Prepare a new ODBC database called "smpolicy"
(NOT an Access MDB, this is to upgrade SMPolicy, I used SQL 7)
3) Setup "SM_New" DSN in WinODBC and CfAdmin
- test connection
(DSN requires sa authority for CF install DB schema, afterwards
datareader and datawriter are adequate for normal SM transactions)
4) Restart Cold Fusion Application Server
5) Go to CFAdmin => Advanced Security
- get prompted to upgrade SMPolicy
- point at SM_New and let it rip...
6) In Windows ODBC
- rename/recfg "SiteMinder Data Source" to "SiteMinder Data
Source_Original"
- rename/recfg "SM_New" to "SiteMinder Data Source"
- test connection
7) Run c:\cfusion\bin\smconsole.exe
- update the credentials for ODBC and test
8) Restart CF and SM Services
- Cold Fusion Application Server
- SiteMinder Authentication Service
- SiteMinder Authorization Service
9) Install Spectra 151
10) Watch it work as designed...
hope this works as well for others
