i see there is no active chap pap secrets. to do so replace "#xxx username * password" with: "your username * your password" in both the files, then make a simbolic link to speedtch in the same directory with the name "speedtouch". for some reason my suse won't connect until i made a link to it. To see if the firmware loads, look carefully at system startup verbose and check if the system loads it. if you can't see it check the modules loaded at startup and see if it loaded or not. anyway, from the verbose that you sent it should be everything ok, except the secrets of chap and pap, so first try setting them up as required. if you're using a router (as i can see from the 192.168.1.1 link) try to see if your network config is ok.
ps.anyway what type of seepdtouch are you using???? 2005/10/10, Franzelot <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > pppoatm is loaded (modprobe pppoatm), modem firmware i don't now > excatly, i have installed it, do i have to do something to load it? > i am root yes, vpi/vci is 8.48 since i live in austria > im not sure aubout the user, in the files chap/pap secrets i didn't find > something where i could enter the username > i'll show you a copy of the files that i have modified and the error > message here: > > # Secrets for authentication using CHAP > # client server secret IP addresses > > # OUTBOUND CONNECTIONS > # Here you should add your PPP Login and PPP password to connect to your > # provider via pap.
