You can put them there.  I have mine there.  Lane has
his there.  ...And probably others too.

You just tuck the little joystick behind the triangle.
 You can still manually stick your hand out the window
and adjust your mirror.  But how often do you adjust
your mirrors?  Once they're set, they're set.  

You just take off the triangle part, and there's a
little screw to unscrew and the joystick pops right
through.  Just don't cut the 3 wires (maybe 2, I can't
remember) that connect the stick.  You will lose all
control of the mirror and it will flop in the wind.  

Just pop off the triangle, and look at things.  It'll
come to you.  Just take your time.
