Any ideas of how to get the best imaging without losing the manual mirror

If you are looking for sound quality then I would recommend that you DON'T
put the tweeters up in near the mirrors. Unless you have some sort of delay
device hooked up to your speakers. There are two rules off thumb when
mounting components. ONE: place them as far away from you as possible. In
doing this you will achieve a more equal path length between the left and
right speakers, in relation to where you sit in the car. This is why kick
panels are favored among high end stereo competitors. TWO: you should try
to keep your components close together, no more than 8 inches apart. The
reason for this is to minimize to many sound source points in the car. If
components are closer together then they will sound more like one speaker.
In terms of sound quality and imaging the fewer source points you have the
better you are.
