Hi Folks: I'll jump in here. The following text describes how I have filed slides over the years. It is not a recommendation that anyone else use this procedure. Slides from 1960 to 1967 are stored in metal files by subject. The only documentation is on the paper sheet that fits into the top of the metal box, and that's just enough to locate the desired subject. Slides from 1967 to 1996 are stored in little yellow boxes. Each box has a number, and each slide is marked with a number (roll number + frame number). These slides are stored chronologically. I have a notebook which briefly describes the contents of each box. Beginning this year, I am storing my slides in archival sheets manufactured by Print File. I also append brief documentation to the notebook described above. I really like the ability to page through the sheets and to throw 20 slides onto the light box in one swift motion. My mother always admonished me to label my photos. It didn't have much effect.
