Astia is a little less contrasty and it allows details in shadows and on black painted locomotives like NS units to show hood doors better, and the color palate is a little less saturated, so the film is a little more neutral. Very true color representation if you expose it correctly. About as neutral as you can get on a slide film these days, without washing out colors or shifting them. The blues and reds also seem more actuate to me. Provia has a tad more 'punch', but depending on the light you are shooting in, you may not see the difference. Especially at the $2+ more a roll for Astia. BTW, Astia is a great portrait film. The best skin tones I've seen so far on any slide film. Very accurate. I will put an Astia/Provia direct comparison on the web site sometime after next week when I have more time.
