I have used both programs extensively. AutoSPRINK as a stand alone
product is AWESOME. But after you wade through the flash, I have found a
few items to talk about. The problem is, it is not AutoCAD. The projects
I am involved with require me to upload dwg's of my progress and
download dwg's of the latest bulletins for coordination. Under these
conditions, converting AutoSPRINK drawings to dwg's once a week is a
pain. The listing reports have very few options such as font size etc.
This creates a problem with the fab shops I use. They (fab shop) do not
like the listing reports from AutoSPRINK as they have a guy with cutting
oil all over his gloves trying to read a size 9 font. This software also
requires a pretty hefty computer with killer graphics card.

Hydra-CAD is AutoCAD based and although not nearly as flashy and
impressive it is much more flexible to use in a "team" situation.

For smaller projects I would prefer AutoSPRINK, but on larger projects
that require ongoing meetings and coordination, I would suggest
something based on ACAD.
