Not snowing here in the MN tropics, or more accurate it is snowing but it's
not sticking, yet. Of course IMHO no snow is BAD news.
Check MN State Fire Code IFC 903.3.1.6.2 Sprinklers SHALL NOT be installed
in elv. shafts, pits or machine rooms. The key is you are in violation of
the LAW if you put them in or the EOR requires them. Hey Drucker, et.al.
EOR hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, few and far between in these parts!
In MN the AHJ (of what ever stripe including the FM) can't require them by
another law (299m, 16b), even by local ordinance.
But all this isn't effective until May, 31st I believe. So today you have to
do them, June you are not allowed.
P.S. you better get a hold of the new MN Fire code there are a lot of things
you will want to know about. I know Dan K. sent your office a copy of the
changes via email a few months ago.

Subject: RE: Elevator Inspectors vs. Piping Installation per NFPA
The reason I bring it up is that I've heard (secondhand) that the State
of MN is granting the Elevator Inspectors wish of no head in the pit...
(and the elev. Mech. Room if memory serves me correctly) ... So I posed
the q'. Anybody else in MN heard the same?
Still snowing...
Chuck
