I've got a large (over 12,000 sq. ft.) warehouse full of seed corn stacked 14' high.
NFPA 61 2002 Edition - Prevention of Fires and Dust Explosions in Agricultural and Food Processing Facilities 12.4.3 Wet or Dry standpipes shall be installed in warehouses and packing areas with combustible contents. Exception: Bulk storage warehouses or warehouses used for other than agricultural or food product storage. NFPA 61 12.4.3 says I need a standpipe, 12.4.1 states if a standpipe is installed it shall be in accordance with NFPA 14. It gives no guidance as to what class of standpipe. Class I, II or III. NFPA 13 2002 Edition 12.1.3 Small hose connections shall be provided in accordance with 8.16.5 for first-aid fire-fighting and overhaul operations. Would the requirement in NFPA 13 satisfy NFPA 61? or vice a versa? Looking at a distance it appears that both are required, since 13 hose stations don't need to meet the requirements of 14 and 61 requires them to meet 14. What say the Forum? I know the new 13 has some wording change about small hose stations, but I'm working with 2002 in both cases. Thanks for helping out a confused AHJ, David Autry Plans Examiner Nebraska State Fire Marshal's Office 246 S. 14th Street Lincoln, NE 68508 402-471-9659 402-471-3118 fax www.sfm.ne.gov _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list [email protected] http://lists.firesprinkler.org/mailman/listinfo/sprinklerforum To Unsubscribe, send an email to:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Put the word unsubscribe in the subject field)
