I am looking at plans for a building that has 20" TJI Composite Wood Joist Construction between the floors. The building is to be equipped with an NFPA 13 system to the 2002 edition.
The sprinkler company is attempting to use Section 8.14.1.2.5 to avoid sprinkling the combustible concealed spaces. My reaction is that this exception would not apply to this situation, and that 8.14.1.2.6 would apply if this is the direction they want to go. I am looking for a bit of input so I am sure I am on the right track.
