Charles, as a local AHJ, I might approve your entry vestibule without sprinklers on a case-by-case basis provided I had more information.
In the past, I have approved an unsprinklered totally glass vestibule, about 5 x 12-feet size, which protruded into a building lobby. The lobby was fully sprinklered and open to the 2nd floor so there were sprinklers installed above and around this "small" glass vestibule. This vestibule was not the only means to exit the building, and I felt that forcing the contractor to add one sprinkler was not money well spent. The only cost-effective method to hide the sprinkler piping would have been to come up from beneath the concrete floor. Again, I think it's a case-by-case situation and not something that I condone for all situations. rick matsuda city of dallas >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2008/7/16 RFI - Bismarck <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > > Forum... > > Have a building with a situation that I need help in addressing - small > entry vestibule (14'8" x 7') which has glass exterior and interior doors and > windows - full height; with concrete walls, floor, and ceiling enclosing it. > Access to this area is close to impossible...
