I also know of AHJ's that don't require that those Rotary glass entry's be
protected, typically when we see those, there are 1, 2 or 3 of those with a
typical fixed swing door as well, and as long as the fixed door is protected
they have allowed the rotating doors to remain unprotected.

Subject: RE: Entry Vestibule situation...

Charles,
as a local AHJ, I might approve your entry vestibule without sprinklers
on a case-by-case basis provided I had more information.

In the past, I have approved an unsprinklered totally glass vestibule,
about 5 x 12-feet size, which protruded into a building lobby. The lobby
was fully sprinklered and open to the 2nd floor so there were sprinklers
installed above and around this "small" glass vestibule. This vestibule
was not the only means to exit the building, and I felt that forcing the
contractor to add one sprinkler was not money well spent. The only
cost-effective method to hide the sprinkler piping would have been to
come up from beneath the concrete floor.

Again, I think it's a case-by-case situation and not something that I
condone for all situations.
