I know this. But why? And how critical is it? Ron and Garth have given some
compelling reasons. Are there any other thoughts? I'd like to know why it is
being done, and how critical it is for the system.

The connection from the FDC must be below the DPV and the connection tee
must be above a swing check in the riser in most every case.

Subject: FDC for Dry Pipe Systems

The FDC is required to be connected between the main control valve and the
dry pipe valve. I'v always thought this might be due to possible air leak
from the FDC check valve, if it's connected on the dry side, downstream of
the dry pipe valve. Is this the reason?

For a project having a single dry system, the contractor has connected the
FDC downstream of the DPV. The system seems to be holding. Any comments?
