Hi five! (or ten). Was it the 1st case of spontaneous combustion? I got
'page not available'. What was the stairwell like? It sounds enclosed- no
ventilation. Intermediate landing? One head? Lots of rags? It is not often
we get to know the particulars.

Steamboat Springs - Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue responded to a smoke alarm
at 10:50 p.m. Thursday in the 2300 block of Ski Trail Lane. The alarm turned
out to have resulted from a fire that started when oily rags spontaneously
combusted in a stairwell, Fire Chief Ron Lindroth said. The house was
unoccupied, and no one was injured.

The house's sprinkler system was triggered and put out the fire. There was
minor damage, according to Fire Rescue's report, and there was some water
damage to the floor because of the sprinklers. Steamboat Springs Police
Department officers also responded, Lindroth said
