Actually with a strict adherence to the rules (not saying good juju) the
upright protection at the ceiling is all that is required. According to an
informal interp generated because of a similar situation with ductwork the
rule is a one inch separation between ducts less the four wide is sufficient
to only require protection above. I wouldn't do it, And these are not ducts
but I see no difference except in depth of the metal panels. Maybe a
Committee member needs to look at this.
