The problem would be proving to the AHJ that the soapy water isn't flammable.

Who remembers Tri-Water Systems? Someone should come up with a
multi-purpose system for car washes ... Roland, would I have to use
Darcy-Weisbach for soapy water?

We recently completed a car wash.

We had to sprinkle the machine, electrical, and convenience store rooms. The
actual wash bay was excluded. Owner paid for all galvanized schedule 40 pipe
and stainless steel sprinkler heads. They had originally considered stainless
steel piping.

Hi Brian you didn't say where it was, how big or what code your under, but if
you go to definitions under the IBC A-5 occupancy will see car washes.
Then go to 903.2.1.5 and you will see when sprinklers are required if where you
are at is under the 2009 IBC.

the side of the building. I can't find anything in the code specifically
dealing with a car wash but for some reason it just seems strange to add heads
to a carwash, yes/no? Also, if they are required which my gut says they are is
there a concern about corrosion & rust? Thanks!
