if you did a upgrade the plugins would survive.
And there are some things to know about plugins.
Most of the plugins have something like:

<maxVersion>*</maxVersion>

But some plugins like the one listed are not only perl scripts they
handle some os related stuff aswell.
I never see some plugins that have some requirements like only for OS
xy.
