Pinging an IP address like that is a pointless exercise, one of the
servers running mysqueezebox going offline does not necessarily suggest
something is broken and if it would cause LMS any problem there would be
people all over the world experiencing the same trouble as you.
One thing that has historically sometimes made LMS unresponsive was the
UPnP/DLNA plugin. Seems some renderers, like in a smart-TV, didn't play
nice and caused excessive traffic. Could be worth a shot to disable that
plugin if it's active and see what happens.
