No, absolutely not. I migrated server only a week or two ago. I copied
over _all_ prefs files, but

Michael, I am having trouble understanding your response, in particular
the first sentence

My "absolutely not" was in response to your "I realize much of the "prefs" folder is going to be unique to each version of LMS (right?)". What I wanted to say is that you can very well copy prefs from one computer to another - with my aforementioned exceptions.

I guess my question is this: I save favorites.opml. In addition I would
like to save saved podcasts, and plugins/repositories if possible,
settings, if possible, etc.

Yep, that's mostly possible. A fav pointing to a track which does not exist in a different place would obviously not work, though.

Of this:
31463
is there anything that can be safely saved and moved to another system,
for either:
* two running same LMS

See my previous comment: you can copy the prefs folder, but would have to remove any path, and the server_uuid from server.prefs.

But don't copy the Cache folder.

* to rebuild a LMS (say SD card failure)

Prefs again. The cache should be re-built automatically.
