I've been using SC7 for a while, and as far as I can tell, browsing by album art is not available when browsing music folder. I could be wrong, but I think the simple explanation is that Browse Music Folder (BMF) just reads straight off the directory structure in the OS, not making any use of SC's database. Your OS has no concept of how those cover.jpg or other files relate to album titles, artist names, etc.
I wonder if some of the "dreadful" performance you're experiencing on the QNAP is because you're using the brute force BMF approach. If you have a big library it can take a lot longer for the OS to read the tree than it would going via the database. Personally, I've never understood the attraction of BMF, other than as a shortcut to getting new music into the MySQL database without doing a rescan. But I know some people prefer it. In SC7 browsing by album art is available for several browse modes besides album browse, like New Music and Years. For browsing Genres it only appears to show album art after you get down to the artist level (i.e., showing all album art for a chosen artist). Likewise, with the Artist browse it only shows album art after you have selected a particular artist. -- aubuti ------------------------------------------------------------------------ aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39082 _______________________________________________ squeezenetwork mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/squeezenetwork
