Putting effort into tags is a huge job and the BMF technique solves it totally as long as you don't care much about browsing and playing tracks instead of albumns.
Still no matter how much effort you put into tags a careful custom tree structure can not be beaten by a computer generated tree of course! Computers can beat humans at Chess, but not at figuring out how you like to access you music collection. Only if the seach was super fast and nice would a custom tree loose to a computer. Eg on Amazon i find books using the search and never use a tree. But the remote makes that impossible. Even via the web interface the slim server search seems usless. I just tried the simple seach with "bach" and it came up with one album, one by bach and one by burt baccarat and then some songs. I tried the advanced search with artist = bach and the usless qnap chugged away for several minutes (literally) and then produced an enormous list of songs but no albumns. -- willyhoops ------------------------------------------------------------------------ willyhoops's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10563 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39082 _______________________________________________ squeezenetwork mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/squeezenetwork
