Well, that's understandable, but sad. I wonder if LGB intended their workshop to be an international event. When I was there, most Germans spoke English and two or three other languages quite fluently. It's one thing to be a tourist/visitor and quite another to be a worker. I went to my friend's work Chrismas party in Medford last week and they had to have one of their bi-lingual supervisors repeat everything in Espanol because almost half of their seasonal employees speak little or no English! My friend has a lot of problems at work because she can't understand most of the discussion that is going on around her. Personally, I think it's a safety issue in a plant atmosphere, as well as disrespectful to the host country when it comes to employment. LGB, however, should have noted that the tour and workshop were not being offered in anything other than German. Or, maybe, they did and your friends missed it because the notice was also in German? Either way, I'm sure it was interesting to see the place even without the benefit of language. Did they send home any rolling stock? Too bad they didn't know Bert; he could have attended and translated for them! Of course, LGB hasn't had much production in the way of live steam since the Frank S have they? And wasn't it in cooperation with Aster?
