I don't think it is not intended to be competitive. Jerry Reshew had the first live steam GTG in 1993. Since he lives in Mississippi, weather wise- the January date is ideal. For me, owning too many locos, I cannot afford an overseas trip except to see my family members. Language difficulties too as I only speak in broken American. To go to Diamondhead is to find Magic, it is social steam!!-- which is why so many Brits come. Not so blinkin' stuffy as steam ups over there- ask them! I appreciate SinSheim , it sounds wonderful but it is not for Diamondhead- we are a very special small scale social event.
