Reading your mails to each-other sounds like a family meeting at Diamondhaed. At Sinsheim in Germany we do not have so many e-mails changing hands, but there is an awful lot of interest in live steam even if there is not a lot of e-mail exchange. Just imagine 5" 7.25" running on 5 KM of track, Gauge 1 track so organised that you can run all day if you want, Tracks for "o" gauge, stationary engines, Steam boats on a large "pond" and this 3 days long. All we have to do is to arrive. the tracks are laid the meals are organised. On Saturday evening the public is excluded we have our evening meal and then is the evening for us running in the dark. with just the red tail lights to see or the fireboxes glowing in the dark. Many bring their local Cheese and or wines Just imagine it. Italian wines, Dutch cheeses, French wines German and Austrian cheeses. Welch steaming coal, New baked bread,A Frenchman explaining to a Brit, how he built his model. A Japanese explaining his LNER loco to a German. or an Indian (Dot not Feather) Showing off his loco. This international meeting (12. 13 14 Jan- 2007. Is a little more than letting off steam even if the language problem is more on a hands and feet level. Sinsheim shows how many people of various religions and Kreads can live shoulder on shoulder with a common inerest, S T E A M . Why is it not possible to have the Diamond head and Sinsheim meetings at a little greater intervals so some of us can visit both?? Why are we forced to compete?? I meen we are Live steamers and not competitzors. We just have fun with steam. Think about it!
