At this point I'm stumped. If I have this right, you have a retail 9.1 CD that says it can't update your computer. I really don't have any idea as to how to proceed without understanding why the installer quits. This is a full install CD right, not one for a specific computer? I doubt that booting from the CD will fix the problem. My one suggestion would be to BACK UP YOUR DATA, then from the OS CD run the Drive Setup program and update your disk drivers, then try and run the update itself.
