I have always been pleased that I managed to figure out how to use a
crossover Ethernet connection between my Starmax (4000MT,w/G3 upgrade, 160 MB RAM, OS9.1) and my wife's Powerbook G4ti400.

Actually, you do not need a crossover. Apple's recent computers from the last several years have auto sensing ethernet. They will adjust the send/receive lines as needed. Today, for example, I was transferring a large amount of data and connected the two computers up directly using a straight-thru cable. The Starmax, of course, does not have this auto sensing, but the Ti book does and it will adjust accordingly. No harm in using one, just not necessary.

My question is can I use the wireless network to connect the computers to each other as well as using the DSL internet connection?

I am not completely sure I understand the question. If you have an ethernet network, be it via wire or wireless, then any computer on the network can talk to any other on the network. Wire vs wireless connection does not make any difference, except in the case of speed, of course.

Now the easy way to transfer files is to enable file sharing and use AppleTalk over ethernet. Our wireless laptops talk to our wired machines and to each other just fine that way.
