I too, can experience that effect since some STFax releases.
The strange thing I've found out, is the following:
I am running STFaxPro on a 1024x768x256 CyberGraphx v4.1 Workbench screen,
where the above mentioned effect is always reproduceable.
BUT:
Changing my Workbench resolution to ANY other display size (no matter if a
CybergraphX or Amiga native screen) makes this effect disappear
immediately.
I already told Simone about this some longer time ago.

Another trick:
When using STFax's Menu to scale down the fax view from 1:1 to 1:2 (50%)
view, tjis ALWAYS works on EVERY screenmode !!!

That's why Simone once suspected the gadget handling in some way.

As a USR Sportster Voice 33.600 user, this is also a very well known effect
to me since I got my first version of STFaxPro (v3.0) until the current
v3.8.

No matter I try or what datatype, only crackling distorted noise is played
through Amiga audio as well as AHI.

BTW:
I wonder why Simone decided to include that "wav" option, rather than a
native Amiga format "IFF" option for loading and saving messages.
Homage for PCs ? ;-)

IF you would, we would be two of that kind now ;-)

Yes, sad to say so. ;-)

That's exactly the suspicion, I can't get rid of myself sometimes, but I'm
no programmer nor hardware manufacturer anyway.
All I can do is just: test, observe and wait ;-)
