According to my techref, I should read the output as Author;Compression 
Method;Bits/sample, making it 4 or 8 bits per sample...? =7 
Hmm, (Bing!, an idea) is that 16 bits inside the modem which is 
then compressed to 8 or 4 bits for the transmission over the serialcable?
