Hi Cullen,
Cathedral Stonework's in NYC is an excellent start. You did not mention
where you live, but you could simply look around where you live and find out
who the master masons are and seek them out.
I apprenticed as a stonemason from a master mason and eventually went
through graduate school in architecture. My stone years serve me well as an
architect, I have a deep respect for the craft of stonework in our modern
architectural world.
Good luck on your search for a teacher. It will be an adventurous journey.
