Hello,
Does anyone have experience using Apple's Xserve RAID in a multipath
scenario? I have two Xserve RAIDs and I would like to enable multipathing to
them from an X4200 with two dual-port QLogic QLE2462 HBAs for a total of four
paths to the storage. For those not familiar with Xserve RAID, they have two
independent HBAs , with each one controlling half of the 14 drives in the
chassis. The controllers are not redundant in Xserve RAID so the 2 Xserve RAIDs
I have to work with are effectively four separate 7-drive arrays.

    As I research online, I see that Xserve RAIDs/Solaris isn't a terribly
uncommon occurrence and there are plenty of articles but none that seem to
match my situation. I have the Xserve RAIDs set up as JBODs as I wish to use
ZFS and don't want to hide the physical drives from ZFS' great error
detection/correction mechanisms by abstracting them with hardware RAID. Here is
my issue: when I enable multipathing, reconfigure/reboot, I only see 4 FC
drives in 'format.' Only LUN 0 from each Xserve RAID is showing up. I have 7
LUNs (0 through 6) per Xserve RAID HBA.

How can I see multiple LUNs per target when using multipathing? I've found
articles where multipathing is used with Xserve RAIDs that just have one big
hardware RAID LUN (thus presenting LUN 0 - no problem) and I've seen articles
where Xserve RAIDs were used as JBODs (thus presenting LUNS 0-6) but without
multipathing enabled, but I can't seem to find the combination of the two
scenarios - multipathing to JBODs where there are multiple LUNs per target. Can
anyone shed some light on this?

Cheers
