This is the spec of the machine I'm running at home now. I used
http://www.silentpcreview.com/ as my main source of information for the parts,
so it's using a vibration dampened case, quiet hard drives, quiet PSU and a low
power CPU.

Even though I bought it to be quiet, I had no idea just how good it would be.
The first time I hit the power switch I thought it was broken, I couldn't hear
anything at all. We moved it to an empty office at work to listen again and
realised that my watch was ticking louder than this computer boots!

It's also a very smart case and looks absolutely stunning in use. It's the
Antec P182, and the only sign the computer is on is the single bright blue LED
on the front:

Spec list (with prices from Feb '08 from dabs.com and scan.co.uk):
Antec P182 Tower Case: £67.04
Corsair 520HX PSU: £48.16
Gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H Motherboard: £37.63
AMD Sempron 64 LE-1100, 1.9Ghz: £20.41
2x Kingston 1GB DDR2: £13 each
6x Western Digital Caviar 1TB WD10EACS: £144.94 each
LG Black SATA DVD+/-RW: £15.99
Supermicro 8 port SATA controller: £62.10
=============================
Grand Total: £1,160.16 + VAT

I'm using RAID-Z2 with one drive for the OS, so only have 2TB usable in this
server (it's really just a testbed for us). With a small 2.5" boot drive and a
couple more 1TB drives you should be able to get 6TB usable.

One word of warning is that the Antek case is an absolute swine to cable, be
prepared to spend a good amount of time fighting with it as you're building the
computer. The PSU mounts at the bottom too, so you need one with long cables
for the motherboard power.

However, despite that I'd happily recommend this case to anyone. Within two
days of this server arriving at my house I'd bought another one for myself to
swop my own computer into. The build quality is superb and they are
phenomenally quiet.
