If at all possible, buy one that's on the Solaris HCL: > http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/search.jsp So do you have your card plugged into a normal PCI slot, or a mobo with a PCI-X slot? I suppose I'd want to get a mobo with a PCI-X slot to maximize my available performance, if I go with that Supermicro card. Also, it appears Areca cards (well, at least 2) are listed on the HCL. I've had very good experiences and at the time I purchased my last one it was the fastest on the market. Anyone have any pros/cons to Areca vs. Supermicro/etc? I'm wondering if 6 drives is enough too; I could add in a 4-in-3 adapter or something in that Antec but that would probably bump the noise factor up... but would allow for a total of 10 drives to be available. _______________________________________________ storage-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/storage-discuss
