This is something that keeps getting asked for, and as more people use
iscsitgt will be asked for again and again. Trying to use the default names
is error-prone at best, and probably has a probability of collision across
servers (which is not permitted by iscsi). Editing the SMF entries and
restarting the server is not the most practical way to go (to say the
least). I know complaints/questions about this go back to at least snv_68.

Every single iscsi target solution I have seen offer the ability to set the
iqn, except this one. Even if it utilizing the feature required manually
making the targets via iscsitadm it would be a phenomenal improvement.

Hi Frederik,

I'm assuming you are using iscsitgt.

in this case you can edit the SMF properties.

e.g.

List the current iscsi iqn's

#svccfg -s iscsitgt listprop | grep iscsi-name
target_ss1-zrp1/iscsi-name astring
iqn.1986-03.com.sun:02:eb9c3683-9b2d-ccf4-8ae0-85c7432f3ef6.ss1-zrp1

And to change it to iqn.1986-03.com.sun:02:target0.0

#svccfg -s iscsitgt setprop
target_ss1-zrp1/iscsi-name=iqn.1986-03.com.sun:02:target0.0

Update the SMF

#svcadm refresh iscsitgt
#svcadm restart iscsitgt

And your done.

Regards,

Mike
