Your id is cr976842a ([24.43.37.40]), these id's depend on the MAC address of the
network card?

You may have the wrong network card connected to the cable network???

There are two ways to connect to Rogers or Shaw. First, you are right you need the
computer name as you did. Now decide whether to connect by DHCP or using the settings
you get off of WINIPCFG.exe in the run on Windows ME. The simplest would be to set it
up statically with these settings. Your IP shouldn't change as @Home relates your IP
to the MAC address of your network card. Make sure you have the correct card ( the
one to the Cable network) configured with these address settings. Once you get the
static connection working you can play with DHCP to get it working. I have used
Rogers and Shaw @Home for a number of years with little problems. Here are a couple
of URL's which may help.

For networking to a cable modem:

For firewalling:

Have fun reading, from Santa  o<|;-)}

ps - A lot of people are buying the Linksys routers for cable modems and adsl modems,
I have installed a few and they work fine.
