I agree that Ruminator is getting more scrutiny than it deserves, seeing how long the list is of people who get money fer nuthin'. We've really crossed a line here, where being connected politically is directly translatable into the $$$ you can expect from City Hall. This is very, very bad. The public good posed by fhima or the Liffey is just about zero. Kincaid's as well. How on earth are we to have spin-off from any of arenas, etc when the spin-off itself is subsidized? We never actually get any money *back*. I was afraid we'd hit this point one day, and we have. Public money is up for grabs to the best connected, and departments like Public Works or the Libraries have to be ready to seriously tighten their belts. Real good.
