I found an article here: www.macalester.edu/weekly/121203/news03.html that says they only raised $36,000. Now that was back on the 12th of december so it is possible to get to hundreds of thousands of dollars but I don't know. I think what is surprising about this discussion is how the progressives can't understand that people have a problem with this. I mean if our roads are in complete disrepair, our schools are failing, we can't feed the hungry and shelter the homeless. Our air is killing us and our water will kill us. Should we really be thinking of bailing out a bookstore? Now, if a $100k handout from the city will truly save the bookstore, I can dig it. From what I am reading and hearing, all it will do is give them a little more time. Simply giving them the money because Coleman or Kelly gave other businesses money just shouldn't fly.
