Please Introduce Yourself What's your connection to St. Paul public schools? mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________
Let me introduce myself: Andy Ihlenfeldt I am a software engineer working in downtown St. Paul for Lawson Software, a position I took partly because they are in downtown St. Paul. My wife is an employee of the Community of Peace Academy charter school, a school she is extremely proud to work for. I have lived for 14 years next to John Sherman and his family on the corner of Dale and Wheelock Pkwy. That's about to change since I'm moving *this weekend* to my new house at 1275 Van Buren, about 3 blocks from the Ginko coffee house. I already miss my neighbors. I am not a native Minnesotan--I grew up in Milwaukee and was taught in Milwaukee's desegregation-driven public school system. I attended Rufus King High with Gordan Gano, who went on to lead the Violent Femmes. I loved my education, except for the yellow school bus. I took exactly 1 yellow bus to high school and promptly took advantage of their option of taking the city bus to school--it was much calmer and I relished the independence. I wish we could offer that to our high school students. I have 3 boys who attend Adams Spanish Immersion. My 6th grader is moving on to another school in the fall, and we're planning on sending him to Murray Jr High. He's had a very hard 2 years at Adams and I'm feeling increasingly disconnected from his education due to my lack of Spanish-language skills. I'm also struggling to figure out if his Tourettes is part of the cause of his troubles. My 4th grader is feeling a bit unchallenged and my wife and I are thinking of moving him as well. I'm mostly a lurker here. Most of my energy goes into parenting and voluteering at North Como Presbyterian Church. I miss Paul Wellstone and love the fact that Ellen Anderson will continue to be my state senator after the move. Andy P.S. Does anyone know of a good piano teacher in the Hamline-Midway neighborhood? -- Andy Ihlenfeldt [EMAIL PROTECTED] _____________________________________________ NEW ADDRESS FOR LIST: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To subscribe, modify subscription, or get your password - visit: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/listinfo/stpaul Archive Address: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/private/stpaul/ _____________________________________________ For state and national discussions see: http://e-democracy.org/discuss.html For external forums, see: http://e-democracy.org/mninteract
