Hello,

My name is Michael Mischke. Im an inveterate St. Paul Issues lurker when
Im not publishing the Villager and Avenues, two of St. Pauls slowly
dwindling number of neighborhood newspapers.

Ive lived in St. Paul since I was 6 months oldMacalester-Groveland,
Merriam Park, Summit-University and now Summit Hill. Other than kindergarten
at Groveland Park, Im a product of religiously affiliated schools. (Cant
knock the education, though the Catholic part of it somehow never stuck.)

Ive never married and have no children, so Ive had no parental involvement
with local public schools, though I have been involved in the public
schooling of the children of women friends past and present. My most direct
involvement with the St. Paul Public Schools has been as a newspaper editor
and publisher. Ive served on a blue ribbon commission for the St. Paul
school district, Ive guest-lectured in numerous public schools, Ive read
to young students in public schools, Ive served as a judge for public
school art and science fairs, and Ive served as principal-for-the-day at
Horace Mann Elementary.

Ive also had the pleasure of keeping our 170,000 or so readers informed
about the news, events and issues of the public school system in St. Paul
for the past 28 years.

Michael Mischke
