My gut response to this is to agree with the council in denying this
money, but all I know about this is what's in the article, and that's
not really that much.

What else is on the table? What would get cut if this went through? If
we're reducing the use of this airport then what's the point of
building the levee? How big is this levee and how much will it reduce
the river's ability to swell appropriately when water levels rise? Have
there been any studies or computer modelling on what this will do to
downstream flooding if it goes in?

See, this is why we elect representatives. It's complicated. :)
