I don't know how to say this any way other than bluntly: Protitution,
regulated or not, is abuse. We are not content to simply "regulate" incest,
slavery, or other behaviors deemed inherently harmful by contemporary
standards. Suggesting that trying to stop them completely just pushes them
underground is to accept that abuse is OK under certain circumstances. It's
never OK. Think about your moms and dads, your daughters and sons, yourself.
Is it OK for them to be protitutes? To solicit protitutes? If it's not OK
for them, it's not OK for anyone. "They" ARE "us," and the standards must be
the same.

We can't ever give up protecting people from such abusive circumstances.
Prostitution is never a choice...it's a desperate, dangerous, threatening,
and terrifying set of circumstances, and a Faustian bargain for everyone
involved. In a just society we make sure that everyone has better choices,
because they have access to education, living wages for meaningful work, and
a support system that catches people when they fall down -- and which all
together allows everyone to properly care for themselves and their families.
