Tim -

You answered the question yourself. You wrote, "Today, there's only one
nude-dancing club and one bookstore where patrons can watch dirty movies in
backroom booths." I don't have a clue where that bookstore is.

The "problem", if there was one, (there was on University Avenue a number of
years ago, with girls waving on every other corner) has been 99% eliminated. I
went into the "Love Doctor" after all the hoopla to see what the neighbors was
complaining about, and it seemed as "bad" as Maharajahs" on West 7th. IT
DEFINITELY WAS NOT THE OLD FAUST OR FLICK. There were some xxx videos for sale
in the back, but no different then what you can rent in the back of Home Video
on Snelling or ???. There were no dirty magazines of any kind, worse can be
bought in Holiday and SuperAmerica. I was amused that the neighbors were upset.
They must have really forgotten how bad Dale and University once was. I can
almost guarantee no working girls will ever be hanging outside The Love Doctor.

If there is a discussion to tighten rules, it seems to be a tempest in a
teapot. I don't see the problem and present rules seem to be working fine.

There is more discussion about limiting adult businesses in St. Paul.
This topic seems to have limited (very little) interest on this list,
any thoughts on why that is?

I found this quote from the article in todays Pioneer Press to be
quite interesting.

"Nonetheless, St. Paul was a much seamier place in
the 1970s, with 30 or so adult movie theaters,
strip clubs, sexual massage parlors and theaters.

Today, there's only one nude-dancing club and
one bookstore where patrons can watch dirty movies
in backroom booths."

City hoping to limit erotica shops

"After a few setbacks over the past decade, the city of St. Paul is
again plotting a way to curb adult-oriented businesses - including
stores that sell lotions and edible underwear but not enough erotic
items to currently qualify as bona fide sex shops.
