Hi all, good job on the caucus reports. What fun to read about your different experiences!

I had my arm twisted (but only slightly) by Tim Erickson and Anne Carroll to go to caucuses and recruit new e-Democracy participants. As usually happens when I'm at these events, I make my pitch to people, get so interested in hearing what they have to say and entirely forget about writing down email addresses and names! I did hand out lots of bright green flyers though, John Manillo & Anne Carroll seemed to be doing their pitches in precincts outside mine (3-9).

We had a grand old time teaching newbies the walking subcaucus strategy game to elect delegates to the city convention. Our convenor was most gracious about trying to wrap up the convention on the early but the number of young people and others new to the process prompted most of us to stay until after 9:30 because we were just having so much fun!

Speakers/candidates visiting Ward 3 caucuses:
Hennepin Co Attorney Amy Klobuchar (I think she'll make a great senator!)
Rep. Michael Paymar
Sen. Richard Cohen
Commissioner Ortega
School Board Rep/Commisioner candidate Toni Carter
Candidate Chris Coleman
Rep. Matt Entenza
Ramsey Co. Atty Candidate ('06) Cory Tennison (personal friend & lifelong DFL volunteer)
New candidate for state auditor '06 (from Minneapolis) - sorry, it was noisy so didn't catch his name!

I hope I'm not forgetting anyone who spoke - if so, apologies and please correct me.

I caucused with a group that was "uncommitted to mayor, progressive" and then we joined with "uncommitted, transit." It was a good, old-fashioned walking caucus (where I grew up in southern Wisconsin we didn't have this privilege) and had a good time meeting neighbors.

In answer to previous questions regarding my criticism of the DFL processes: I saw lots of hopeful examples of change and new energy. A 24-year old woman was elected as Associate Chair (Marina ?) and the folks I talked with were all eager to work toward change. I left encouraged and optimistic.

Cheers,

Cristy
