Michelle's point isimportant. I have lived in this town long enough to remember as tiny lad pur fair city before I-94 was built through the East Side, Rondo, Midway and Desnoyer Park. (The Desnoyer Park section carefully looped and avoidng the 12th hole green at Town and Country.) In fact the first place Ivied is now the north bank of the freeway by Prior.)
The estarordinary changes engendered by the physical changes echo through five decades. One example is that we now celebrate Rondo Days to remember the community that was gone. But I would suggest that changes to the East Side, Midway and South Saint Anthony were effected by the dramatically changed landscape. The question I propose to the forum is to examine the impact of that change as a lense to view the eventual impact of establishing a 'freeway' through new neighborhoods. There is no question that there has been a price paid for building I-94; has that price paid brought positive benefits over the decades? And if it did did it also bring a string of costs attached to dealing with the negative effects? And can we use this information to begin to assess teh impact of this new effort?
