the report is incorrect. I do not support a direct connection. Ayd mill
should not become a defacto freeway and make no mistake, that's what
happens when you connect two ends of a road with two freeways. Next
would come hand wringing and statements that we just can't control
"natural" speeds. Then the metro east chamber of commerce would call for
a direct interchange on the north end so that we could swiftly move
suburbanites to minneapolis.

i don't know the answers to your other questions yet.
perhaps the mayoral candidates should weigh in.
Where do they stand on the ayd mill/ I94 connection.

>>>>>Thanks for the timely response. The Highland Villager reports
that you
and Councilmember Harris want to study the feasibilty of have a direct
connection of the two-lane parkway to I-94 on the north end. Is that
true?

Mayor Kelly made it quite clear at the public hearing on Thursday night
that he feels a two-lane parkway is not a viable option. Primarily
because
there would be no interest at the federal level in fuding such a road.

The mayor's proposal has a price tag of $44 million, $30 million of
which
he hopes to have funded by federal and state money.

How much would your two-lane parkway alternative cost and where would
the
funding come from?

Would your proposal include the replacement of the Hamline Avenue
bridge?

Thanks,

Dennis
