I'm Rob Fulton. I live in Highland Park. Three of my six children are still
at home-one in college and two who attend charter schools in St. Paul. In my
work life, I am Director of the Saint Paul - Ramsey County Department of Public
Health. Outside of work, I'm engaged in my church, serve as a board member of
our primary care clinic, United Family Practice Health Center, serve in a
volunteer capacity with the Greater Twin Cities United Way most recently
co-chairing the new Basic Needs Impact Council, and help out as an unskilled
coach with HGRA baseball.
My wife Margaret and I relocated to St. Paul in 1988 from eastern Pennsylvania.
We have come to love this city and the metro area and intend to remain here
for our retirement years.
Re: Mayoral concerns: Strengthen the community councils. They make St. Paul
unique among cities in the US. And, develop a PILT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes)
for state and public university owned land in the city. This technique has
worked for years in counties with large state and national forest lands. No
reason it couldn't work in an urban area.
