Hello & welcome new forum participants!

My name is Cristy De La Cruz, and I'm a semi-regular poster to the forum. I moved to Saint Paul to buy my first home in 2000 (after living for 2 years in Minneapolis & many places before that). Last year, I moved to a classic 1920's Highland Park townhome and really enjoy being within a few blocks of three bus lines and a couple of fabulous coffee shops with Wi-Fi access.

I was born and raised in rural Wisconsin and went to Swarthmore Colllege, where I majored in Psychobiology (I know that sounds scary - it was really a combination of a chem/bio/psych interdisciplinary major). My current focus is completing my Master of Liberal Studies at the Great University of Minnesota, with emphases in organizational development and political rhetoric. I earn my living through consulting and most of the time I can afford the mortgage and some food, even the occasional cheap red wine...

I am a frequent agitator of the DFL (where I have met most of my close friends in this town) and an outspoken Liberal. Yes, with a capital L and a proud grin. ;^) My dad is from Mexico and my mom was born & raised in northern Minnesota, so I have the good fortune of being able to interpret things from more than one cultural perspective. Most members of my family are teachers in one form or another so I have education in my genes, I suppose.

This is a great forum, and I'll echo what others have said - sometimes we can get a little heated and agressive. However, for the most part this is a terrific way to put our heads together to share opinions, and brainstorm creative ways to approach solutions our common challenges. I have learned so much from y'all. Hasta pronto,

Cristy De La Cruz
