Hello Sarah,

When the innermost arc is January, so is the outermost. When the innermost arc is July, the outermost is also July. But a glance at the graphics produced by spin.exe indicates the normal monthly sequence reads from outside to inside.

Best wishes,

Mac

From Fer's recent message:
 >> In my program Spin you may choose between inner circle as january or as
july.
 >>This overcomes a litlle the problem of the gnomon length.
From readme2.doc Zonwvlak:SPIN .EXE : calculates a horizontal azimutal sundial and writes thepoints to a file <name.RLT>. This file can be drawn on the screen withthe program SCRPLT.EXE.The months of the date-scale are in circles. The outmost circle can bejanuary first or july first. The program works for latitudes between 25 and 66.5 degrees and between
-25 and -66.5 degrees.
Now which is it, innermost, or outermost?
